We’re ALMOST there!  By and large, everything is done to our new home, both inside and out.  Carpeting has been installed in the sanctuary and social hall, most of the low voltage and communication systems are installed and being finalized and tested.  Sound and light was installed this past week.  The latest construction photos in our photo album off to the right shows off some of the activity that went on this past week during arc construction and sound installation.

We encourage you to drive by if you haven’t lately.  The recent transformation with the installation of the landscaping has been magnificent.

A great deal of activity has happened.  Most of the parking lot is in and the landscaping along the perimeter of the building and within the parking lot is being installed.  The parking lot lights are up and the entire site is taking shape.

On the inside of the building, all of the drywall is up and the paint is being applied.  The colors chosen by the Interior Committee are great.  The tile is being laid in all of the bathrooms (8 in total throughout the building) and the ceilings are being installed.

Everyone will be very impressed with the clever ceiling arrangement in the sanctuary - architectural elements were added to enhance the aesthetics and give the room both some depth and spaciousness while also making it cozy.

We are less than 3 months away from taking full occupancy.  Please drive by the site to see what’s going on when you get a chance.

5/18/2008 - Interior walls being put in

The inside of the sanctuary looks dramatically different.  Almost all of the walls are in and you can really get a sense of the layout.  The Preschool wing is clearly a distinct area and will certainly be wonderful when we move in.  The sanctuary itself is breathtaking and has a great feel of openness to it.

As for the exterior, site work continues.  The parking lot is taking shape and the landscaping is set to go in starting the week of Memorial Day.

5/11/2008 - Construction continues - BEAUTIFUL BRICKWORK

Over the last couple of weeks, tremendous progress has been made on the building.  The entire parking lot curbing has been put in as well as all of the exterior brickwork (NOTE the intricate brickwork on the exterior sanctuary wall behind the bimah).  Inside, the walls are going up and the wiring and pipes are being installed.

Starting next week, landscaping will start to be installed on the perimeter of the property.

With only about 4 months to go until we move in, you can really start to see how the synagogue will look.  With every passing week, it gets more and more exciting.

Be sure to check out the slideshow at the right for the latest pictures –>

Bricks…..

As the walls and roof continue to be worked on for the Sanctuary, on the pre-school side of the building (west side - facing Parson’s Road), bricklayers have begun laying the brick.  In the latest photos, you can see the progress and also the intricate patterns of light and dark brick.

The latest photos (from 4/13) are available in the slide show to the right –>

4/6/08 - new construction pictures have been added

The roof and walls continue to go up even with all the wet weather we’ve been having.  If you get a chance, drive by at night and you’ll see the building lit up with security lights in the interior.

The preschool walls are being put in.

Work continues to progress at a hurried pace.  The building is very much starting to take shape.  Over the next several weeks, the parking lot curbs will go in as well as the landscaping around the perimeter of the property.

March Board Meeting

March’s Board meeting went very well. It was a long one, but we got a great deal accomplished. Pam Amikam was honored by the board for her two year’s of outstanding service to CDT and the Religious School. We also discussed marketing initiatives which you’ll see focused on new members. The board approved a NFTY Advisor to start on April 1 or as soon as possible after that date. The advisor will start the membership drive for 2008-2009 and will plan a couple of kickoff events for this year.

Howard Greenspan, our Technology Chair attending the meeting to update the board on some of our network and website initiatives. We’ll be transitioning to a new, much more functional website in the next couple of weeks. We’ll begin using www.dortamid.org as our main site, since we are an organization, not a commercial enterprise. You can check out the beta site today if you’d like to see what our new webmaster, Joel Lesser, has been working on night and day!

We voted on the slate of trustees for next year, and you’ll see that in your mailboxes in the next week or two.

Great night for CDT, please ask your friendly neighborhood board member if you’d like more information on any of the discussions or items.
